MCCHESNEY CLAIM

The Supreme Court reserved its decision on an application by Charles Bedaux for the setting aside of the writ of attachment applied for by R. McChesney. Bedaux applied for a refund of his security and costs on the grounds that McChesney must have known that there was no foundation for his suspicions, that he had not been deprived of shares and must have realised the harm the proceedings would do to Bedaux,

The Johannesburg correspondent, of "The Times” reported on February 19 that the action McChesney versus Bedaux relates to a claim for the delivery of stock in the Bedaux Company of South Africa to McChesney as additional emolument for services as general manager and engineer director. An earlier message stated that' a Court order had been issued attaching the person of Mr Charles Bedaux, the American efficiency expert, who is a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The order was issued on the application of Mr Robert McChesney, former manager of the Bedaux Company of South Africa, to recover £2500 of the company's stock allegedly hold either by Mr Bedaux or the company. Mr Bedaux was released after giving security.
