PLUNKET SOCIETY. . (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna sub-branch of the Plunket Society. there were present Mesclames Albrechtsen (chair). Ives, Gray, Brittain, Simmers, Richardson. Macky and the Secretary, Mrs A. S. Carter. The nurse's reports for December and January wore read and adopted and showed the following figures, those for December being given in parentheses: number of babies under supervision 71 (70); older children, 44 (42); new babies for the month, 3 (4); visits to homes. 18 (18); visits to district, 4 (5). Members are reminded that the financial year ends on 31st March and all subscriptions may be paid to the Secretary or Nurse who will acknowledge same. Pickard Cricket. Shield. In the match for the Pickard cricket shield, the Bush team defeated Dannevirke (holders) on the first innings. Bush compiled 94 (Murch 33, Gallon, ■ Montgomery and Jensen 11 each). Dannevirke in the first innings put together 52 (Peddar 15; McKay, 7 for 23, Montgomery 3 for 23).; second innings 42 for 2 (Broadbent 12, Ellingham, not out 12; Montgomery, 2 for 15). personal. Mr and Mrs F. J. Mcßride left yesterday on a motor tour of the North Island. Mr A. Steele, of Palmerston North, is relieving Mr Mcßride at the Bank of New South Wales. Croquet Club. The active members of the Eketahuna Croquet Club entertained the honorary members at a very enjoyable function on Saturday. Competitions were won by Mesdames Rowden and Toohill. A treasure hunt was won by Mrs N. Richardson. A dainty afternoon tea was provided.
