WATER DIRECTED INTO NEW CHANNEL.

IMPROVEMENTS IN PARK AREA

After having flowed for countless centuries in a bed of its own making the Waipoua River was this morning turned from its age-long course into a man-made channel through the so-cal-led horse paddock of the Masterton Park. There were too many twists and turns in the natural course of the river to suit future development work in this area, and/ with a view to securing a more direct flow of water, and of eliminating the possibility of flooding a new river bed was provided. This morning the water was directed to its future channel, and men engaged on the task are now busy filling up the old watercourse. Others are still engaged in widening the bed of the new channel.
