MARTINBOROUGH
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. MEETING AT DYERVILLE. ("Times-Age” Special.) The February meeting of the Dyerville Women’s Institute was held on Friday afternoon, when there was a small attendance, Mrs Jamieson presiding. Several visitors were welcomed. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to Mrs Waugh for the use of her grounds for the annual garden party held in December. Competitions were won during the afternoon by Miss T. Old and Mrs Smith. The points prize for best bloom in the garden for the year was won by Mrs J. Harris. Mrs Stewart acted as hostess for the afternoon, which was much enjoyed. Musical items were given by Mrs Smith and the meeting was brought to a close with the National Anthem. Tennis Club Items. The tennis team to play Pirinoa at 1 p.m. on Sunday on the local courts is as under:—C. Ward, P. Ward. M. McLeod. E. McAlpine, E. Bidwill. B. Feist. J. Roach, K. McLeod. I. Nicol. M. Hume.
The following are the results of the ladder matcher played last week: —T. Hardie lost to P. Ward, 7-9, 6-3, 4-6. J. Roach beat R. McLeod, 6-1, 6-2. C. Ward beat M. McLeod, 6-3, 6-1. The afternoon tea hostesses for Saturday are Mesdames E. B. Evans. Brimble, Wagg and Roach.
