WEDDING
PRIEST—DEVENPORT. Last Saturday the little church at Nireaha was the scene of a pretty wedding when Mavis, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs G. A. Devenport was united in marriage with Leonard, son of Mr and Mrs T. Priest, both families being resident in Putara. Rev J. Davie, of Masterton. was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a sweet frock of white satin, simply cut and with buttons down the back. The skirt was trained and the tulle veil, lent by a friend, was finished with orange blossoms. The bridal bouquet was of white flowers and maidenhair fern.
The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs D. Drysdale as matron-of-hon-our and Miss Ina Priest, the bridegroom’s sister. 'Both attendants were frocked in floral blue georgette and carried bouquets of pink and blue flowers. Two little flower girls dressed in blue organdie Were flower girls. They were Lois Devenport and Betty Priest, nieces of bride and groom respectively. Mr Eric Priest supported his brother as best man.
After the ceremony Mrs Devenport received the guests in the Nireaha HaU where at the breakfast the usual toasts were honoured. The hostess wore a wine coloured costuriie with hat to match and carried a posy of pompom dahlias to tone. Mrs Priest, mother' of the bridegroom, was attired in a saxe blue frock with white trirrimings.
In the evening a dance was held in the Putara schoolroom at which a large number of guests were present. To travel, the bride wore a smart cinnamon brown tailored coat over a brown silk frock and a straw hat en suite. A short honeymoon was spent in Wellington.
