SERVICES RECOGNISED
TWO CHURCH WORKERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Yesterday afternoon the ladies of St. Mark’s Guild entertained. Mrs N. F. Hornsby and' Miss P. Telford at the Vicarage. Recently both ladies left: Carterton to reside at Paraparaumui and there was then no tithe to tender them a farewell. Both are now back in the district and staying at Masterton for a holiday. This being so, they were invited to attend the Vicarage at Carterton where the work they had done for St. Mark’s Guild was fully recognised. Miss Telford had l held the position of secretary and assistant-secre-tary of the Guild. During the afternoon the Rev W. F. Stent. made appreciative reference to the services rendered to the Church and Guild by the guests, and in asking them to accept a handbag each said that all associated with the church were sorry they had left Carterton. He hoped that they would some day return to the town they had so long been connected with. He thanked them for all they had done for the church and on behalf of the Guild wished them every happiness in their new home. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies present.
