FEATHERSTON
PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Arte” Special.) Mr J. Kirby, Island Bay, is visiting Featherston. Mr and Mrs R. G. McKenzie and their son, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs Card, have returned to Ballance. Mr J. W. Card, president of the Wairarapa Racing Club, attended the Pahiatua Racing Club’s summer meeting yesterday. The death occurred yesterday in Wellington of Dr A. E. Palmer, who for many years resided in Featherston. Fire at Bridge. The wooden approach to the first bridge in the Rimutaka Hill was badly scorched by a grass and scrub fire yesterday afternoon. The combined efforts of Mr W. A. Tate, of Greytown, and Mr N. C. C. Shepherd (W.A.A., of Featherston), succeeded in extinguishing the fire.
