GREYTOWN

THE LATE MR J. MAGUIRE. LARGE CORTEGE AT FUNERAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr James Maguire which took place at the Greytown Cemetery yesterday morning. The pall bearers were Messrs W. Grigg and H. Farley of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge, and Secretary Carter and Station Officer W. Gray, of the Greytown Volunteer Fire Brigade. Among the many beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the Greytown Football Club, and the Fire Brigade. On the casket was placed a fireman’s helmet.

MRS WEBSTER FAREWELLED. BY PLUNKET COMMITTEE. On the eve of her departure for Hawera Mrs H. E. Webster was entertained by the members of the Greytown Plunket Committee at a bridge party yesterday afternoon. In the absence of the President (Mrs Vile), Mrs Maddison presented Mrs Webster with a crystal vase and shoulder spray in appreciation of her service to the society. Mrs A. H. Bull, president of the League of Mothers, handed to Mrs Webster a bridge set on behalf of the League of Mothers’ choir, which Mrs Webster had so ably conducted for some time. Mrs Webster feelingly responded. The gathering concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” BOWLING. GRADY MEDALS WON BACK. The Grady Medals have returned to Greytow'n once more, Messrs R. G. Vile and W. Higgison defeating the Martinborough pair last evening.
