MR CHAMBERLAIN TO SPEAK | TOMORROW HOUSE OF COMMONS DEBATE NEXT WEEK. EXPANSION OF GERMAN MILITARISM. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.. LONDON, January 25. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph" says that the Cabinet considered the international situation for three hours today, including the implications of Dr Schacht’s and Captain Weidemann’s removal. It is understood that it was concluded that Germany had launched a further gigantic armaments campaign, irrespective of economic, consequences.
Mr Chamberlain will deliver an important speech at Birmingham on January 28, before which M Bonnet, the French Foreign Minister, will have spoken in the Chamber of Deputies. The Cabinet decided to change the normal programme of business in the House of Commons on January 31 to allow a full-dress debate, in which Mr Chamberlain will indicate British policy.
icy. PLEA FOR REFUGEES LIMITS IMPOSED IN FRANCE. PROPOSED NEUTRAL ZONE. LONDON, January 25. The corespondent of "The Times" in. Paris says that the Spanish Republican Foreign Minister, Senor Del Vayo, has departed for Barcelona after requesting France to shelter 150,000 refugees, to which M Bonnet, French Foreign Minister did not agree, owing to technical and financial difficulties. However, it is understood that he suggested to the nationalist authorities at Burgos the creation of a neutral zone on the frontier or in Andorra. Nevertheless, France is unlikely to keep out destitute women and children. MINISTERS CONFER MEETING OF CABINET SUB-COMMITTEE. (British Official Wireless.) Mr Neville Chamberlain presided at an afternoon Cabinet Sub-Committee dealing with foreign affairs and defence matters, which was attended by Sir John Simon, Viscount Halifax, Mr Hore Belisha, Sir Kingsley Wood, Sir Thomas Inskip, Lord Stanley and the First Lord of the Admiralty, while Sir Robert Vansittart and Sir Alexander Cadogan also were present.
