GREYTOWN

("Times-Age” Special.) Advice was received yesterday that Mr H. E. Webster, headmaster of the Greytown District High School, had received notice that he had been appointed headmaster of the Main School at Hawera. During the three years that Mr Webster has resided in Greytown he has taken an active interest in the affairs of the town. A keen golfer, he has served as a member of the local club’s committee and filled the position of club captain. He won the senior championship in 1937. He took an active interest in the tennis club and occupied the president’s chair for a term. The local branch of the Workers’ Educational Institute has been presided over by him for the last two years. Mr Webster has also been prominent in local affairs, especially in the musical world and as conductor of the choir of the League of Mothers. The high standard of the Greytown School at the present time is chiefly due to the influence of Mr Webster. The social activities of the school have been greatly assisted by both Mr and Mrs Webster. Mr Webster is to commence duty at Hawera on February 1. Personal Items. Miss M. Eccles has returned from a holiday spent at Wanganui. The Rev W. B. Cuming, of Marton, who has been spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Nightingale, returned home yesterday.
