CROQUET MATCHES. (“Times-Age” Special.) In the first match for the Saunders’ Memorial Cup in connection with the Featherston Croquet Club, Mrs Benton and Miss Williams beat Mesdames Saunders and Thompson. Mesdames O’Neale and Thompson beat Mesdames Johns and Benton last week in a match for the McKenzie brooches. The final for the Matthew’s Cup will be played at the first opportunity be--5 tween Mrs Saunders and Miss Tyford, and the club championship games will commence next month. Miss Eva Card has presented a trophy for competition amongst the members of the Haunui Club. Play for the same will commence this week and continue until each member has met all the others. Bowling. In the Dominion tournament at Auckland the Featherston rink, Fuge, James, O’Neale, Rolls (s) qualified for the post section play with six wins. Kitchen Tea. At the Kaiwaiwai Hall on Monday night a kitchen tea was tendered to Mr and Mrs H. Fenwick. A pleasant time was spent with dancing and euchre. After supper, Mr and Mrs Fenwick, who were recently married, were called •* upon to open the numerous useful parcels. The Kahutara social club of which Mrs Fenwick was a member before her marriage presented her with a handsome bedroom mat. Mr Fenwick expressed thanks to all for useful gifts and good wishes. Sheep Fair Prices. At the Wairarapa stud sheep breeders stud fair, held at Solway, the Quentin Donald estate realised top price for the Romney section with 230 guineas, with an average price for 21 Romneys of just on 80 guineas.
