PONGAROA
SCENIC RESERVES
("Times-Age” Special.)
Reporting at the monthly meeting of the Akitio County Council on the Pongaroa Scenic Reserves Cr Yeoman said some of the fences would need to be put back onto their line. He suggested that the County also endeavour to get six other of the sections vested in the County. Wire would be needed but the posts could be secured from dead trees in the reserve. A quantity of firewood would also be available and this could be sold to help pay expenses. He suggested that the appointed Committee and the Engineer bring down an estimate as to the cost of the fencing. It was decided to adopt Cr Yeoman’s recommendations. Tenders Accepted. At the monthly meeting of the Akitio County Council the following tenders were accepted: The tender of £1714 12s of the Peacock Construction Co for the erection of Cunningham s Bridge on the Waihi-Akitio Road; the tender of 14s per yard of Mr J. McLaren for top coat metalling on Waiowaka Road. It was decided to advise the settlers on (he Waiowaka Road that the road boundary must now be fenced;the tender of I. Jones, of Dannevirke. of £lO7 6s 6d for the erection of the Public Convenience in Pongaroa.
