GREYTOWN

RIFLE SHOOTING COMPETITIONS A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE. ("Times-Age” Special.) With brilliant shooting, Mr H. R. Feast won the Balfour Challenge Cup and also the Te Whaiti Cup on the Papawai Range on' Saturday afternoon. In the former competition he scored 100 points over 300yds, 500yds and 600 yds, and 47, at 900yds, a total of 147 out of a possible 155. For the other trophy he scored a 49, 46 and 49 at the 300yds, 600yds and 900yds, his total (144) being only 6 points under the possible of 150. The scores were as follow: —

Guy Rhodes 40 33 4 77 Next Saturday the competition will be over the 500 and 600 yards ranges, ten shots at each distance, counting for the Ingley Challenge Cup.

Transferred to Pokeno.

Mr Karl P. Lilly, of the Greytown Presbyterian Church, has received notice of transfer to Pokeno, South Auckland, and he expects to leave Greytown at the end of January.

Personal. - Mrs F. Donnes is at present in the Greytown Hospital. Mr W. Wood, who put his knee out last week, has been admitted to the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Mr H. E. Webster returned to Greytown on Saturday from a trip to Napier. Lecture on'Swimming. Mr J. Breward, of the National Committee of Life-Saving, visited the Greytown baths on Saturday afternoon and gave a lecture and demonstration to the instructors in the ‘’Learn to Swim” campaign. Mr J. F.. Thompson expressed the club's thanks to Mr Breward for his address and instructional course. Bowling. The Greytown Club's singles competition was advanced another stage on Saturday, when McLeod beat Carter, Kilgour beat V. Vile, R. Vile beat Best. Burns beat Connolly and Brown beat Dennes.

In the champion pairs games, Kilgour and McLeod beat Burns and Rees.

Playing for the’G'dld’Bars, Higgison and R. Vile beat Connolly and Carter.
