In response to requests from Australia the Duke and Duchess of Kent are endeavouring to rearrange their plans to enable their arrival in time for the Melbourne Cup meeting. It is almost ceriain that the Duke and Duchess will go to New Zealand for the centenary celebrations. It is announced on the Duke’s behalf that he feels he should go to Canberra for the swearing-in ceremony immediately he arrives in Australia, thereafter formally visiting Melbourne and Sydney before settling down to routine.
