WEDDING

ARMITAGE—NICHOLLS. At St. Peter’s Church, Pahiatua, on Monday, December 26, Miss Phyllis Nicholls, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Nicholls, of Pahiatua. was married to Mr Harry Armitage, eldest son of Mr and Mrs William Armitage, of Mataura. Southland. The Rev. F. K. Button was the officiating minister, and Mrs D. Dewhirst, of Dunedin, aunt of the bride, was the organist. The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a gown of magnolia satin cut in slim-fitting lines, the skirt forming a train, and a tulle veil. Her bouquet was of lilium auratum, cactus dahlias and maidenhair fern. The matron of honour was Mrs L. S. Evans, sister of the bride, who was wearing dainty floral georgette in tonings of blue and pink, with a blue crinoline hat. She carried a Victorian bouquet of pink sweet peas, carnations and maidenhair fern.

Mr Frank Armitage, of Mataura, was best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the house of the bride s parents, there being numerous guests present from such distant towns as Hastings, Mataura, Palmerston North, Wellington and Masterton. Mrs Nicholls, who presided at the function, received the guests dressed in a nfevy ensemble and a navy hat. Her spray was of red roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom's mother wore brown with a spray of cream roses. Numerous beautiful gifts were displayed, the bridegroom’s gift to the bride being a fur stole, and to the matron of honour a crystal powder bowl and candlesticks.

When the bridal pair' left by car for a honeymoon tour of the North Island, the bride wore a honey-gold frock, a black three-quarter length coat trimmed with patent leather, a black patent leather hat and accessories.

Mr and Mrs Harry Armitage will make their future home at Kelburn, Wellington.
