RIFLE SHOOTING.

MASTERTON-OPAKI CLU.B. COMPETITION WON BY H. KING. On the resumption of the MastertonOpaki Rifle Club’s weekly competitions a boisterous wind, varying in velocity and with occasional direction changes, made shooting on Saturday very difficult. Under such conditions the score of the winner, H. King, was an excellent one. He was the only marksman successful in coping with the wind's vagaries. Details of the shoot are as follow: —

Next Saturday’s programme, will be a double series of 10 shots at 800 yards and a single of 10 at 900 yards. Members wishing to go to Trentham on January 21 for the match with Petone are requested to hand in their names by January 14. «

ALFREDTON CLUB. OPENING COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Alfredton Rifle Club opened their season with a trophy competition on Saturday. A strong gusty wind from the left required careful watching, but under the conditions some excellent scores were registered. Rifleman H. Duckett made top score with 141, while the best range total was a good 49 by President Edmonds. Scores: —
