SEA SCOUT PAGEANT
BURLESQUE OF “THE MUTINY
ON THE BOUNTY”
BRIGHT EFFORT AT JAMBOREE.
LORD HAMPTON INTERESTED IN NEW ZEALANDERS.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY. January 5.
Today’s pageant at the Scout's Jamboree was held on the river adjacent to the camp and was presented by sea scouts who staged “The Mutiny on the Bounty,” which was more or less a burlesque of the real thing, supplemented by bright interludes of sea life in the early days of the Australian continent. Fine and warm weather favoured the demonstration.
The Chief Scout’s deputy, Lord Hampton took a great deal of interest in the New Zealand camp, and confessed he was intrigued by the Maori signs and symbols, and he was also pleased with the manner in which the scouts performed the hakas. Lord Hampton also took every opportunity of conversing with the Maoris.
