ACTIVITIES AT THE SCOUT JAMBOREE. NEW ZEALANDERS PERFORM HAKA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY. January 4. Today's main attraction at the Scouts’ camp was a colour parade in commemoration of International Day. comprising displays by Scouts from Noumea. New Zealand. Queensland, and New South Wales. Thunder showers marred the proceedings. The Consuls of France and the United States were entertained at luncheon. at which a cablegram conveying greetings from the Chief Scout. Lord Baden Powell, was read and cheered. Later 600 New Zealand Scouts, massed in formation, presented Maori hallos and demonstrated a Maori canoe song. Local troops participated in physical drill with staves, and gave a life-saving demonstration. Thousands of spectators were present. SUDDEN DELUGE HUNDREDS OF TENTS FLOODED. MAORI DISPLAY IN RAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 11 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Torrential rain last night flooded hundreds of tents at the Scouts’ Jamboree. There were amazing scenes throughout the whole encampment, as thousands of boys, dressed in bathing costumes, worked strenuously in teeming rain deepening the trenches around their sleeping tents and digging others to carry the water away. The storm broke as the New Zealanders were giving a realistic display of ancient Maori tribal customs mcl hakas. They continued with the display with their warpaint dripping off them.
