•DECREASE IN MASTERTON FIGURES.
There was a falling off of the births, deaths and marriages registered at Masterton for 1938 as compared with lhe previous year. The figures are as follow, those for 1937 being given in parentheses:—
Births. 259 (267); deaths, 117 (130): marriages. 118 (126). The figures for the month of December were:--Births 26 iL’i; death;:, 8 <l3>; marriagej, 11 (19).
