HORSE SPORTS
AVOIDING A CLASH OF DATES. FIXTURES IN WAIRARAPA. A meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Horse Sports Federation was held in the Masterton A. and P. rooms yesterday. Mr H. Morrison presided and delegates were present from Bideford, Mauriceville, Gladstone, Tinui, Langdale, Alfredton and Martinborough. The object of the meeting was to arrange dates for sports meetings and avoid the clashing of dates between the Bideford and Gladstone clubs. After a long discussion and a special meeting between the parties concerned, Bideford agreed to forego their date this year. The executive considered that the Bideford Club has been generous, but it was decided that Bideford should revert to their original date in 1940. Dates for horse sports meetings were arranged as follow: —Langdale, January 15; Gladstone, January 28; Tinui, February 4; Ponatahi, February 18; Alfredten, February 25; Mauriceville, March 4; and Martinborough, March 25. It was decided that in future no club be granted a date that had been held by another club for a number of years unless the club wanting the change first made arrangements with the club concerned.
Clubs are to be asked to nominate men or women for the judging of hacks hunters and ponies with a view to compiling a list of younger judges. A meeting of delegates will deal with this subject on January 18.
