WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most enjoyable afternoon was spent in the Kaiparoro Hall, the occasion being the seventh birthday of the Women’s Institute. Mrs MoAnulty, senr, presided, due to the absence of Mrs C. Burton. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the esteem in which the late Mr Henson was held in the district. The Eketahuna Women’s Institute was well represented, while apologies for absence were received from 'Mrs Paterson (Pahiatua) and also neighbouring Institutes. Mrs Fox contributed two songs which, were much appreciated, Mrs G. Hansen playing the accompaniments. Competitions were won as follow: — Shoulder spray: Mrs Hansen 1, Miss M. McAnulty 2. Christmas Novelty: Mrs McAnulty, senr, 1, Miss L. Braddick 2. Musical competition: Mrs Darbyshire 1, Ping Pong: Miss V. Welch 1, Mrs Albrechtsen 2. Nail-driving: Mrs Albrechtsen 1. Best flower for the month: MissV. Welch (rose) 1, Mrs A. Falkner (rose). 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames McAnulty and Dick and Misses Dick and McAnulty. The cake, made and iced by Miss V. Welch, was cut by Miss Mitchell and Mrs Carter. Sharp Earthquake. A sharp earthquake was felt here last night, just after nine o’clock. Cricket Team. The following is the Eketahuna team to play the Pahiatua Fire Brigade tomorrow at Eketahuna: —R. McGregor (captain), A. Rowden, R. Mountjoy, P. Payne, R. Payne, J. Payne, J. Reid, M. Hansen, F.
