GREYTOWN
DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. END OF TERM FUNCTION. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance of parents at the Greytown District High School yesterday afternoon. The certificates awarded for the year were .presented by Mr H. G. Carter (chairman). The dux of the school, Jack Raison, was presented with a gold medal, and the runner-up, lan Trotman, with a book.
Mr J. W. Herod presented the diplomas won by the pupils at the pet lamb and calf judging. A general stall conducted by Mesdames Webster and Whimp did good business as did the tea room. The takings amounted to £6 clear. Personal. The winner of the St Luke’s guild Christmas hamper was Mrs Errol Brooks, Matarawa. Miss Lorna Dunn, of Dannevirke, is staying with Mrs S. Stevens, Main Street. Miss Shirley Stevens arrived home from Nelson College today. Earthquake Follows Loud Noise. Preceded by a loud rumbling noise Greytown experienced an earthquake last night, but many people did not feel it. Motor Collision. A motor car driven by A. J. Mazengafb, of Wellington, and a motor-lorry driven by Ling Sing, of Greytown, collided at the intersection of Kuratawhiti and West streets last night. Very little damage was done to the truck, but the car was badly damaged. No one was hurt.
