MEETING OF LADIES’ AUXILIARY. ARRANGEMENTS FOR PROPOSED CARNIVAL. The president (Mrs G. R. Beecroft) presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Y.M.C.A. ladies’ auxiliary. The meeting was held in very pleasant surroundings in the grounds of Mrs M. G. Mackay, Cornwall Street. The general secretary of the Association (Mr A. E. Bate) explained the plan of the proposed Carnival and outlined activities for the ladies' committee. It was suggested that the Auxiliary should hold a combined meeting with the ladies’ committee of the Beautifying Society in the New Year. In order to make full preparations, it was decided that the first meeting of the Auxiliary in 1939 should be on Tuesday, February 7. Reference was made to the boys’ camp to be held at Castlepoint in January, and members of the Auxiliary offered jam, fruit, vegetables and cakes towards the camp supplies. At the conclusion of the general business, the president extended Christmas and New Year Greetings to the members. These were warmly reciprocated. A greatly appreciated part in the afternoon’s proceedings was the presentation to each member of beautiful shoulder sprays prepared by Mrs Scharnwebber. Posies were also presented to the officers of the Auxiliary. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Scharnweber for her kindly thought and artistic gifts at various functions throughout the year. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the officers of the Auxiliary and a pleasant function was rounded off with a competition and the exchange of the season’s greetings;
