METHODIST CHURCH
CHRISTMAS CANTATA. A congregation that packed the Church gathered in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening to take part in an hour of worship which had as its central theme the rendition by the junior choir of the church of the Christmas cantata, "Chimes of the Holy Night.” A choir.of 80 trained young voices, sang in perfect harmony and with a power of expression which showed that they had caught the meaning of the words they sang, the result being most outstanding. The solo work, which is ever exacting in this, class ol music, was a revelation to many, as the ycuthful singers took their parts with all the clarity and tonal quality that could be desired. Those taking the leading solos were Misses Maida Ancirew, Joyce Orr. Alma and Norma Davey, and Masters Gordon Orr, Daniel Davey, and Ivor Perrin. Before the Benediction was pronounced. the Rev Fred J. Parker, the officiating minister, took occasion to express to the members of the choir the appreciation of the Church for the fine service rendered during the whole year, as well as for the beautiful Cantata just given, with especial thanks to the three young ladies who made such a delightful contribution to the church life by their talented and graceful work as directors of the junior choir—Miss Ivie Donald, the Conductor, Miss C. Donald, L.R.S.M. at the organ, and Miss E. Donald, as leader.
