EXCHANGE CONTROL
NOT LIKELY TO AFFECT SEA PASSAGES. FARES MOSTLY ON STERLING BASIS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A travel agency official stated today that quite a number oE clients with plans for trips overseas, believing the rate of exchange, New Zealand on London, might be raised, had been quick in taking steps to complete the transfer of funds overseas. Shipping officials said they did not think the new regulations would be likely to affect overseas passenger rates. The practice largely followed by the companies was to quote on a sterling basis. Rates had been increased ten per cent last year to meet added costs.
A meeting of the United Kingdom Manufacturers and New Zealand Representatives’ Association is being held this afternoon to discuss the situation arising from the export and import regulations.
