GREYTOWN
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown District High School Committee was held last evening, there being present Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes (treasurer), E. Graham, J. Herod, H. Bassett, J. Morison, W. G. K. Wiggins and Mrs Knell (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr, H. C. Trotman. / The dental nurse (Miss Barber) reported that she would complete the inspection of the Greytown School on December 9, after which she would return to the Carterton Clinic. The headmaster’s report stated that the roll numbers were: Secondary 44, Primary 298. Arrangements are being made to hold a shop day in conjunction with parents day on Thursday 15th. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £5 18s 9d. The Greytown Junior Cricket Club asked for permission to use the school cricket pitch for practice after school hours. It was decided to grant the request for a month on conditions to be laid down by the headmaster. The secretary was instructed to apply for a library subsidy from the Education Board on the Trust grant It was decided to cut down the large pine tree at the school, Mr Maloney to supervise the work. As the committee will not meet in January the chairman, secretary and treasurer were appointed to deal with urgent matters. Bowling Teams. The following will represent Greytown in a bowling match against Featherston: —Booth Cup rinks tc play at Featherston: Burns, Maloney. Bunny, Carter; Connolly, Curtis, McLeod, Vile. At Greytown: V. Vile, Rees. Best, Higgison; Brown, Day, Kilgour, Kenning.
Shield team to play at Grey town: Brunton, Burden, Nightingale, Dennes.
