CALVES AND LAMBS.
JUDGING AT KAHUTARA. A. gala day was held at Kahutara on Saturday in aid of the school. The main events of the day were the judging of the calves, yearlings and lambs. There was a splendid exhibition of art and crafts, the work of the children. There were various well stocked stalls, which were in charge of the following:— Produce, Mesdames ” Smith and Pope; cakes, Mesdames Cade, Hood and Bargh; sweets, Mrs Cor let; ice creams, Mrs Harland and Mrs Rogers; drinks, Miss L. Hood; tea stall, Mrs Ness and band of helpers.
The results of the judging were as follow: —
Champion pedigree heifer: Mavis Ness 1, Declan Ness 2, Tom Ness 3. Champion grade calf: Noel Smith 1, Roy Smith 2, Elsie Harvey 3. Best conditioned calf: George Hood 1, Declan Ness 2, J. Harvey 3. Best mannered calf: lan Siemonek 1, Elsie Harvey 2. Champion calf (all classes): Mavis Ness. -
Yearlings: Trevor Smith 1, Declan Ness 2.
Lambs (white face): J. Juno 1, A. Lepper 2, T. Hubbard 3. Black face: Doreen Lea 1, Joan Siemonek 2, Belle McKay 3.
