AMATEUR ATHLETICS

MEETING AT HATAITAI PARK. PULLAR WINS TWO MILE RACE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Athletes had to contend with a severe wind for the second graded scratch meeting of the season, held at Hataitai Park, Wellington on Saturday. Two Empire Games representatives in G. Quinn and W. A. C. Pullar appeared and performed well. Pullar was in Wellington for the clay from Masterton and borrowed gear, to run in the two miles. He ran impressively showing no distress from the strong wind, and won as he liked in 9.59 4-5. Pullar indicated his willingness to appear, if he can obtain leave, in Wellington, in Wellington on January 7, the date of the visit of the Victorian sprinter E. Best, and the middle distance runner, G. Backhouse. Quinn won the senior A grade furlong fairly easily from W. J. Fulton in 22 4-5, good time even with a following wind in the straight.
