LIVELY WRESTLING
BROTHER JONATHAN BEATEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 4. The professional wrestlers, Lofty Blomfield (Auckland) and Brother Jonathan (United States of America) drew a crowd of 10,000 people to Carlaw Park on Saturday night when they met in an open-air contest. Blomfield won by two falls to one. The first fall was a penalty one to Blomfield in the fourth round when his opponent persisted in the use of his knee after being repeatedly warned for such an offence. Jonathan remonstrated with the referee and gave full vent to his feeling when the gong sounded for the opening of the fifth round. He attacked the New Zealander viciously, holding him by the hair of his head with his left hand, while he delivered heavy blows to the jaw with his right. Blomfield was felled and then lifted bodily for a slam to be an easy victim for a body-press. The deciding fall came in the seventh round when Blomfield applied his octopus clamp. Jonathan resisted the hold for about three minutes, but finally submitted. The bout was a Very lively one. *
