FOUND HANGING
SHARE MILKER’S DEATH. TRAGEDY AT WAIHAKEkE. The body of Henry Whiteman, of Waihakeke, a share milker, who had been working on Mr Norman Cadwallader’s farm, was found this morning at about 9 o’clock hanging from a willow tree on the banks of the Waiohine River, not far from Mr Cadwallader’s property. Mr Whiteman, who had been in ill-health for a considerable time, was 36 years of age and leaves a wife and two children. It appears that Mr Whiteman was found to be missing at 6 o’clock last night, after he had returned home from a visit to Carterton. A police search was commenced at 7 o’clock this morning and the body was found at 9 o’clock by Constable Watson and party. It is understood that Mr Whiteman wrote a letter on Thursday night to his father, who resides in Palmerston North.
An inquest will be opened at Carterton this afternoon.
