AMATEUR CYCLING
LOCAL CLUB ACTIVITIES. (By “Oppy.”) The ev.ents last Wednesday included two cycle races which further proved the capabilities of several of the riders. The events decided were over i mile and two mile distances and good times were registered. R. Cop had his turn this week and won both races. The way this lad pedals a 76 gear and beats riders with much larger gears is pretty to watch. K. Woollett, who was .second in both events, was beaten only by Copp and was not disgraced. C. Dykes rode well and has developed a splendid sprint. He uses this too late, however, and if he sprinted earlier he would find himself in a major place. He registered a third in the 2 mile event. J. Brader rode for the first time on Wednesday and was third in the mile, but failed to stay the distance in the 2 mile race. C. Osoorne started off the same mark as Woollett and Copp in the 2 miles event but retired early in the race. L. Green, R. Killington and E. Lefort rode well and will do better with further training. Members - and supporters are reminded of the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Amateur Cycling Club which will be held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, Church Street, at 8 p.m. on Thursday next.
