LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. NO BREAK-UP CEREMONY THIS YEAR. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Lansdowne School was held last evening when, in the absence of Mr H. E. Pither, Mr J. K. Logan occupied the chair. There were also present Messrs A. V. Faulknor, J. McGregor, J. R. Donovan, J. G. Dagg, M. Fly, J. G. McFarlane and the headmaster, Mr Jones. Apologies for absence were received from Mr Pither and Mr G. Ross. The headmaster's report was presented and adopted. The present roll number, he stated, was 225, with an average attendance last week of 203.4 The measles epidemic was now diminishing and the attendance was returning to normal. A start had been made with swimming and teams in life saving had been organised. In view of the conditions under which the school is being carried on, and the necessity for vacating the temporary premises immediately the holidays commence, it was decided that no break-up ceremony would be held this year. Members were of opinion that it would be ,more opportune to hold some sort of ceremony when the new school opened next year.
