FEATHERSTON
LITERARY INSTITUTE. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Literary Institute Committee was held yesterday, there being present: Mr R. W. Matthews (chair), Miss Card, Mesdames Shepherd, R. A. Donald, Miss Jean Donald, Messrs M. B. Tait, Arch. Clark, and N. C. C. Shepherd. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Arch. Clark. . The matter of procuring more binding for the books was left in the hands of Miss Jean Donald and Mr N. C. C. Shepherd. It was decided that country subscribers be allowed to keep, books for a period of three weeks instead of a fortnight as at present. In view of the experience of the past three months, it was decided to close the lending library at 8 p.m. except on Friday evenings when it will be kept open till 8.30 p.m. The lending library will be open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. till noon, and from 7 till 8 p.m. Ladies’ Rest Room. At a meeting of the Ladies’ Rest Room Committee it was decided to spend up to £2O in furnishing t;he room. Personal. Chief Petty Officer L. Hood and Mrs Hood are visiting Mr and Mrs Hood. Kahutara. Chief Petty Officer H-Qod will sail by H.M.S. “Achilles” for England shortly.
