WEEKEND CRICKET. A WIN FOR MAKURI. (“Times-Age” Special.) During the weekend Tiraumea played a friendly game against Makuri at Makuri. Makuri won by 127 runs on the first innings. Scores:—Tiraumea. first innings, 40; second innings, 118 (S. Raleigh not out 69, G. Houlbrooke 19, J. Reed 11). Makuri, 167 (Stringfellow 50 retired, C. Butler 52 retired, R. Absolom 18. J. Tylee 24). Bowling for Tiraumea, J. Duncan took 3 wickets for 28 runs and N. Hislop 3 wickets for 30 runs. For Makuri R. Absolom took 7 wickets for 23 runs, and C. Butler 3 wickets for 7 runs. Personal. Mrs R. Houlbrooke is visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs McCormick, at Martinborough. Mrs R. Harman Senr., motored to Masterton to attend a meeting of the Women’s Division. Miss R. Pickett was the guest of Miss O. McLareft. at Pongaroa, for the weekend.
