SOUTH WAIRARAPA GUN CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the South Wairarapa Gun Club was held recently when Mr S. W. Thomas presided. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £25 Is 4d. The chairman commented briefly on the secretary’s report which showed that the club had enjoyed a very successful season and had over 30 members. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr .W. A. lorns (Martinborough); president, Mr G. S. Sutherland (Featherston); vice-presidents, Messrs F. R. Brough, R. Buick Senr., S. Hall, H. Swainson, and A. H. Warren; secretary, Mr P. S. MacDonald; treasurers, Messrs Swainson and Thomas; referee, Mr R. Buick; official trapper, Mr W. Boyens; handicappers, Messrs Hall, MacDonald and Buick; committee, Messrs Hall, Buick, Warren, C. Hume, Boyens, Thomas and MacDonald. The thanks of the club were passed to Messrs W. lorns, F. Brough, Swainson, McKenzie, Tisdall Co., C.A.C. Co., and the Texas Oil Co., for trophies donated. -■ The opening shooting day was fixed for November 26 when a competition for the 3rd series of the Tisdall Cup competition will be held. Twenty-one Bird Match. The South Wairarapa Gun Club held a practice shoot at the Lake Ferry on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members and visitors. The weather was fine and good shooting was the result. The first match of 21 birds for a case of carvers resulted in a tie between G. Sutherland and B. Brougn who each obtained 19 birds and in the shoot-off Sutherland won. The scores were as under:-—G. Sutherland, 15 yards, 19 birds; B. Brough, 12, 19; R. Buick, 18, 18; T. Skipage, 18, 18; S. Hall, 15, 17; I. Sutherland, 15, 16; N.’ Prussing, 15, 15; H. Swainson, 12, 14; A. Warren, 15, 14; C. Hume, 12, 12; F. Brough, 11, 10. A sweepstake match of 12 birds was fired at the conclusion of the first match, the veteran, R. Buick, being the winner. The scores were: —R. Buick, 18 yards, 11 birds; T. Skipage, 18, 10; G. Sutherland, 16, 10; S. Hall, 15, 10; N. Prussing, 15. 10; A, Warren, 15, 10; H. Swainson, 18, 10; B. Brough, 18,9; I. Sutherland, 12, 7; C. Hume, 18, 7. The next shoot will be for the Tisdall Cup and two sweepstake matches. Personal. Mr W. Hodges, Wellington, who formerly had a farm in this district, was a visitor at the weekend. Road Hogs. , Indignation has been expressed by local residents at the speed some motorists, particularly those at the weekend, travel on the local highway. The high rate at which some of them travel is dangerous to other users of the highway. The Tennis Season. Tennis enthusiasts in this district are looking forward to a most successful season. Already many members are putting in much practice in view of the coming inter-club matches. The annual meeting of the local club will be held shortly. Church Service. The Rev. Mr Mann held a church service in the Kohinui meeting house on Sunday last. It is the intention of Mr Mann to hold services regularly here every month.
