GREYTOWN
RED CROSS SOCIETY. FORMATION OF BRANCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr G. D. Bridger, Director-General of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, addressed a meeting in the Town Hall last night. The Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, presided. Mr Bridger outlined the aims and objects of the society in a very lucid manner. Mr R. W. Tate moved that a subcentre be formed in Greytown. This was seconded by Mr H. E. Webster and carried. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr A. W. Horton; vice-presidents, Mr R. W. Tate and Mr H. E. Webster; secretary, Mrs G. R. Jury. Those present were formed into a general committee with power to add. The following executive committee was appointed:—Messrs A. W. Horton, R. W. Tate, H. E. Webster, Mesdames G. R. Jury, V. Kempton, E. Maddison, H. E. Webster. S. Steven, Miss Kedell. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Bridger thanked those present for attending, and also expressed his thanks to the Major for having assisted the movement. Cantata By Choir. The united choirs of Carterton and Greytown will render the ' cantata "Shepherd of Men” at St. Luke’s, Greytown, next Sunday evening.
