RIFLE CLUB COMPETITION. FOR SHIELD AND TROPHY. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following were the scores in the Featherston Defence Rifle Club’s competition for the W. J. McGill Shield and the R. Donald trophy: —
Next week’s competition will be for the Williams and Bidwill cups. Croquet Matches. The Haunui Club met Lansdowne, at Lansdowne, in a B grade match, Haunui winning 5 games out of 6. The details are as follow (Haunui players being mentioned first in each instance):—Doubles: Mesdames Hankers and Card defeated Mesdames Morris and Dagg, 26 to 10; Mesdames White and Brophy beat Mesdames Shearer and Grigg, 26 to 19. Singles: Mrs Hankers beat Mrs Morris, 26 to 20; Mrs Card beat Mrs-Dagg, 26 to 24; Mrs White lost to Mrs Shearer, 26 to I 21; Mrs Brophy beat Mrs Grigg, 26 to 16.
In the Intermediate Buttons at Martinborough Mrs Watson and Miss Nix beat Mrs Williamson and Mrs McAlpine. On Saturday at Masterton Mrs Polson and Mrs Bassett (Masterton) beat Mrs Watson and Miss Nix (Haunui), 26 to 16.
In an Intermediate Buttons contest at Featherston Mrs Watson and Miss Nix (Haunui) beat Mrs O’Neale and Mrs Benton (Featherston).
In the Featherston Croquet Club's competition for the McKenzie Brooches Mrs Johns and Miss Williams beat Mrs Benton and Mrs Thompson, 26 to 20.
