SCOUTS & CUBS
ST. MATHEW’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.
The St. Mathew’s Scouts and No. 1 Cub Pack held their birthday celebrations at the den on Saturday evening. There was an attendance of over 120 parents and friends and a large muster of Scouts and Cubs. The evening opened with the Grand Howl by the Cubs and a haka of welcome by the Scouts. A very creditable programme, comprising a mouth-organ solo, a tableau by the Cubs, and a sketch and an Eastern play by the Scouts was presented. The stage arrangements and lighting and the costuming wee very fine indeed. •
During an interval District Cub Master, Miss R. Robinson, presented badges to Cubs and Scoutmaster Ron Isles presented service stars to several Scouts.
Cub Nekon, the smallest member, very ably performed the ceremony of cutting the birthday cake. A happy and successful gathering concluded with the singing of God Save the King.
