BOOTH CUP AND SHIELD GAMES. MASTERTON DEFEAT PARK. Booth Cup and Shield matches wore played between the Masterton and Park Bowling Clubs on Saturday, Masterton winning all the contests. The results are. Masterton players being mentioned first in every case:— Booth Cup (played on Masterton green): Campbell, Beecroft. Reid. Morton (s) beat Burke, Braggins, Carr, Shearer (s), 24/21; Douglas, Thomson, Hayne, Taylor (s) beat Roff, Jobson. Spackman, Staniforth (s), 26/17.
Played on Park green: McCullough. Chapman, Ewington, Perry (s) beat Buckley, Wallace, Simpson. Bell, 20/18; Dorset, Hughes. W. Hendry, Nielsen (s) beat Vincent. Dixon, Southey. Kilgour (s). 23/20.
Shield game (played on Park green): Gordon, Gleeson Stubbings, Finlayson (s) beat Carpenter. Sleigh, Thompson, Reader (s),'2o/il. GREYTOWN v. MARTINBOROUGH. BOOTH CUP HONOURS EASY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first round of the Wairarapa Bowling fixtures commenced on Saturday. Greytown met Martinborough in home-and-home games. In the Booth Cup competition honours were easy both sides winning two games each. In the Duthie Shield competition the Greytown rink scored a win over Martinborough. The following are detailed results: — At Martinborough: Grey town: Burns, Page, McLeod, Carter (s) defeated Cuthbert, Hardie, Knell, Williamson (s), 22/15; Brown, Curtis, Kilgour, Vile (s) lost to Smith, Jenkins, McNally, Yates (s), 22/24. At Greytown: Connolly, Day, Allison, Kenning (s) beat Lamb, Caseley, Jolly, Boyd (s), 25/17; V. Vile, Knell, Best, Higgison : (s) lost to Green, George, Pike, Wright (s), 12/22. ' Duthie Shield: Brunton, Burden, Nightingale, Dennes (s) beat Bing. Smith, Pryor, Beveridge (s), 21/15. CARTERTON v FEATHERSTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Carterton played a drawn game with Featherston' on Saturday in the first Booth Cup matches for the 1938S 9 season. Two games were played at Carterton and two at Featherston, each side registering a win and a loss in each centre. The Shield game played at Featherston was won by the home team. The visitors were cordially entertained at afternoon tea and at Carterton the tea arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames H. Simmonds and Lynch and was greatly appreciated. At Featherston: Harrington Kruse, Beale, G. Hart (s) lost to Kilsby, Card. James, Rolls (s), 18/22. W. Hart, W. Steven, Whyte, Sorensen (s) beat McNamara, Ayre, Higgison. Bloxam (s), 20/13.
Shield. —Boyne, Newbould, Simmonds, Hughan (s) lost to Roxburgh, Karaitiana. Fuge, J. Higgison (s), 14/30.
