WOMEN’S DIVISION. FINAL MEETING OF YEAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting of the year of the Women’s Division of the. Farmers’ Union was held on Friday, Mrs Wakely presiding over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Miss Card, Mesdames Aitken, Carter, Donald and Tutbury. A vote of condolence was passed with Mrs Q. Donald and her sons in their recent bereavement, members standing in silence. The competitions resulted as follows: —Cut bloom, Mrs Brandon 1, Mrs Wakely 2, Mrs Rea 3. Flowering shrubs, Mrs Wakely 1,2 and 3. Bulbs, Mrs Rea 1, Mrs Wakely 2, Mrs Charles 3.The next meeting is to be held in February, when the competitions will be for flowers, and for the best fruit cake made from a recipe in the Featherston Spring Show catalogue. The tea hostess was Mrs Sadler. Tennis Club Season. The local tennis club opened the season on Saturday afternoon, when there was a very good attendance. The Mayoress (Miss Card) performed the official opening ceremony. Personal Items. Mrs Brady, of Wellington, a sister of Mrs Allen Donald, was a visitor to Featherston during the weekend. Mr J. W. Card and Miss Card left for Wanganui yesterday and will return home today. The Rev C. Willis, Seatoun, Wellington, was the preacher at the morning service at St John’s Church yesterday. Euchre Tourpey and Dance. There was a good attendance at the Pihautea euchre tournament and dance on Saturday night. The card winners were:—Ladies, Miss N. Corlet 1, Mrs J. Riki 2. Men: Mr B. Frew 1, Mr M. Ruka 2. The Statue Waltz was won by Mr True and Miss Corlet.
