WELLINGTON RESULTS

In the senior competition on Saturday the best score of the day, 214, was hit up by Wellington against Wellington College Old Boys on Karori Park. This was largely the result of a bright century by J. Ell, who reached 105 in even them. Old Boys found runs difficult to get against the bowling of Meech and Rabone, and, at call of time, had seven wickets down for 104. Good bowling by R. O’Neill, who took five wickets for 64 runs, enabled Midland to dismiss Kilbirnie for a total of 174 on the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground. H. F. Rice and S. Wilson both passed the half-century for Kilbirnie. Midland could reply with only 121 for ets, for 16 runs for Kilbirnie. Clever spin bowling by J. McKeown, who took five wickets for 85, was mainly responsible for University falling for 161 runs against Institute at the Basin Reserve. P. D. Wilson )Was at the wickets for two hours in making 62 for University. When stumps were drawn Institute had 68 runs on for the loss of two wickets. A spirited stand by R. J. Kemp and E McLeod, which put on 70 runs for the sixth wicket, was the highlight of Hutt’s total of 174 against Karori on the Hutt Recreation Ground. Kemp went on to score 76 and McLeod made 39.
