BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB.

(Notes by “The Bowler.”)

The first round of the club fours was played on Saturday last.

There was a large attendance of members, and many interesting and enjoyable games were played. Nominations are now open for the club competitions, and members are notified that entries definitely close on Saturday next. I advise players to make their entries' as soon as possible, as I have noticed, on . many occasions, where players' leave their entry until the last day or two, such entry is overlooked. Even if a young player feels that he would not have much chance of winning a competition he will gain considerable experience if he takes part. The competitions are: Champion singles. champion pairs, champion fours, and handicap singles. When an afternoon is set apart for the “club fours” every bowler whose name is put in the official box by 1.15 p.m. is eligible to take part. Considering the heavy rainfall preceding Saturday last, the green played well and true.

Members are probably aware that if they take part in tournaments their bowls must bear the N.Z. stamp of 1934 or later.

Arrangements have been made by the Wairarapa Bowling Centre for the tester to visit the Wairarapa, the date to be fixed later- on. Will all bowlers whose bowls are stamped' prior to 1934 please notify the club secretary as soon as possible,-the number of bowls they require tested. CLUB FOURS. DETAILS OF SATURDAY’S PLAY.
