PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr M. Carter, who has been on a short visit to his parents, has returned to Dannevirke. Mrs J. Cowan has left on an extended visit to relatives at Fcilding. Mr Toi Graham, who has been staying in this district for some months, has returned to Awahuri. Mr Norman Murphy, who has been in the Masterton Hospital, has left the institution and is recuperating with relatives here. The funeral of the late Mr Timi Kara (James Carroll) took place at Hinana, Gladstone. The pall-bearers were Messrs Matthews, Anaru, Turei, comrades of the deceased in the Great War. and Mr Holland, representing the Carterton R.S.A. branch. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Patihona Kokiri, brother-in-law of the deceased. Shearing Operations. Shearing operations in this district are being considerably hampered by bad weather. Rain has fallen on occasions. heavily during the past three days. Attacked by Bull. Mr Dixon, an employee of Mr Jameson’s at Tuhitarata, had a fortunate escape from serious injury a few days ago. He was in the act of removing a halter from a Jersey bull when the animal suddenly attacked him. Mr Dixon was severely gored in the back. He is now in hospital. Lost Wallet Found. During the progress of the show at Carterton a police officer picked up a wallet containing money and valuable papers. It vzas ascertained from the papers inside the wallet the name of the owner. Inquiries were made from a Carterton motor firm as to the identity of the owner of the wallet and an employee of that firm verified it. The owner of the wallet was an employee at the Lower Valley, who was then an inmate of the Greytown Hospital suffering from injuries as the result of an attack by a bull. The owner was considerably relieved when informed that the wallet had been found with everything intact, and would be handed to him on application to the police authorities at Carterton.
