FAT LAMBS
WAIRARAPA DISTRICT CONTEST. JUDGING NEXT TUESDAY. So far forty entries have been received for the , New Zealand Meat Board's district lamb competition, which is to be held at the Waingawa Freezing Works on Tuesday. It is expected that several more entries will come to hand, which will bring the total to about that of last year. In addition to the Meat Board Shield for the best district group, prizes are offered for the three best pens on the judging in the pens and for the three best pens judged on the hooks. Only lambs 371bs. freezing weight and under will be included in the final 15 pens to be sent to London. Diplomas will be issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board to the winners of the first, second and third prizes for the whole of the North Island and to the owners of each of the 15 pens selected for shipment to London. Cash prizes of £l5, £lO and £5 have been donated by the Meat Board for the three best individual pens from the whole of the North Island, judged in London. The district exhibiting the best pen for the whole of the North Island will hold the challenge shield for a year. Lambs entered in the competition must be penned at 9 a.m. on Tuesday next, so that judging may start at 10 a.m.
