MARTINBOROUGH

MR D. MATHESON FAREWELLED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A large number of personal friends and clients of the Union Bank assembled- at the Odd Fellows’ Hall on Thursday afternoon to farewell Mr D. Matheson, the manager of Martinborough branch of the Union Bank, who has been transferred to the branch at Tologa Bay. Mr H. L. Griffiths presided, and said that it was with mixed feelings they had met that.afternoon —with pleasure to congratulate Mr Matheson on his promotion, but sincere regret at his departure from the town. Mr Matheson, during his stay, had identified himself with public and social activities —the school committee, church, and golf club. As a bank manager he was a per;>mal friend of the clients and popular with his staff and brother officials.

Mr Franks and Mr Knell spoke of the happy relations existing between the banks and staffs, and Messrs W. A. lorns, W. Linton, G. C. Willis and A, B. Martin, also spoke, after which the chairman handed Mr Matheson gifts for Mrs Matheson and himself and wished them every happiness in the future.

The health of the guest was toasted with musical honours. Mr Matheson suitably, replied. Mr Sadd, the new manager, was introduced. A number of toasts were honoured, and the gathering concluded with hearty cheers for the departing guest and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mr and Mrs Matheson and ’ family will leave for Tologa Bay on Monday morning.
