FEATHERSTON
ANGLICAN CHURCH. MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the' meeting of the parishioners of the Anglican Church in the Parish Hall on Thursday night. The Rev J. T. Hol-, land was in the chair. The vicar expressed his sympathy with Mr and Miss Mutter in the illness of Mrs Mutter, and spoke of the splendid work carried out during the past five years by Mr Mutter (who had retired from office) as people’s warden, and secretary and treasurer. Mr Campbell Pearce and Mr J. C. Bidwill paid a tribute to Mr Mutter for the manner in which he had carried out his duties.
Mr A. S. Kilsby was elected People’s Warden, and Mr J. W. Holland secretary and treasurer. A most interesting address was given by the Rev C. W. McDouall, of Pekingin “What is really happening in China.”
On the motion of the Rev J. T. Holland a vote of thanks was passed to Mr McDouall for his address.
Supper was provided by St John’s Ladies’ Guild.
Mrs Mutter, who was recently taken seriously ill while visiting her daughter in Waitara, was brought home yesterday by ambulance from Palmerston North. (. There will be thirteen candidates from St John’s Church, Featherston, to be confirmed at St Mark’s Church, Carterton, on Sunday, by the Right Rev Herbert St Barbe Holland, Bishop of Wellington. Euchre Party and Dance.
The South Featherston euchre party and dance held on Thursday night was well attended. The card winners were: Ladies, Mrs R. Fuge 1; Miss Simmonds 2; men, Mr W. Smith 1; Mr N. Burt 2. Mr D. Jensen and Miss O. Fuge were the winners of the both Monte Carlo dances. St Peter’s Ladies Guild. The Pihautea and Kahutara branches of St Peter’s ladies’ guild held their first meeting in the Pihautea Hall on Tuesday. Mrs J. Carne Bidwill presided over a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Nunn, Bargh, Siemonek. Mrs Holland gave a very interesting address on the Social Club life of the Y.W.C.A. in London. Mesdames Grant. Smith and Gunn were the tea hostesses.
