GOLF SEASON CLOSED (“Times-Age” Special) The official closing of the 1938 golf season took place on Saturday afternoon there being a good attendance of players and visitors. A mixed foursome was played, the winners being Miss Burrows and Miss Bannister, after which afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies and the cups and trophies won during the year were presented to the various winners by the president, Mr S. Gray, who referred to the position of the club and the very pleasant season which has just ended. , The following is a list of the principal winners:—Nitz cup, ladies’ championship, Miss M. Taylor; Cameron Cup, Men’s championship, Mr H. Paku; McGregor Cup, ladies’ handicap, Mrs A. McGregor; Bannister cup, men’s handicap, Mr W. Kummer; Kummerstein cup, Mrs Schofield; Nimmo cup, Mr A. McGregor; Miss Schofield’s trophy, nett aggregate (ladies), Mrs Foreman; President’s trophy, nett aggregate (men), Mr A. McGregor; W. Kummer’s trophy (ladies), Mrs Schofield, men, Mr H. Winter; Mixed foursomes, (Mr and Mrs Schofield's trophies), Miss Buckeridge and Mr H. Paku; Ladies’ eclectic, Mrs-Schofield, men’s eclectic, W. Kummer. Trophies were also presented to the. winners of the various competitions, and winners of the weekly prizes. The committee wish to thank all those who generously donated, trophies during the year; also Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co, Messrs J. Graham and Co; Messrs J. G. Elliott and Co.; and Mr A. Donald, who donated trophies for the competitions. On Saturday evening next the annual meeting of the club will be held in the club house at 8 p.m., when the president and club captain will present his annual report. The secretarytreasurer will submit the balance sheet for the year. The election of officers and committee for the ensuing year will take place, and also a general discussion regarding the management of the club’s affairs. Daily Mail. Mr S. Gray has been informed by Mr B. McFarlane, acting postmaster, that the petition for a daily mail service between Masterton and Flat Point has been considered by the Department, and that it is regretted that the request cannot be granted.
