LOCKE AND PARTNER BEATEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, October 31. Partnered by H. J. Longstaff, A. D. Locke, the visiting South African golfer, was beaten by two Hawke’s Bay professional players, J. Lambie and A. H. Dyke 3 and 2 in an exhibition match played over 18 holes this afternoon. The weather was fine and there was a large gathering of onlookers. To beat Locke and his partner Dyke and Lambie, particularly Dyke, played good golf. Their best-ball score was 66 and Dyke went round in 70. Lock had a round of 71. Considering his recent illness and his journey from Wairoa in the morning, his was a good performance. Playing the best golf of his career, today Eric Cremin, Australian and New South Wales professional champion, broke the Kensington course record with 67, leading the field in the first qualifying round for the State professional championsliip.
