SMITH—FLEMING.

On Saturday at the Basilica, Hill Street, Wellington, Jean, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. S. Fleming, Hawkestone Crescent, Wellington, was married to John Beresford, son of Mr J. A. Smith, Forest Flat, Alfredton, and the late Mrs Smith. The service was conducted by the Right Rev Monseigneur T. F. Connolly, who was assisted by the Rev Dr Walshe, a school friend of the bridegroom. Nuptial Mass was celebrated, and the choral part of the service was taken by pupils of St Mary’s College, where the bride was at school. Miss Fleming was given away by her .father. She wore a beautiful gown of deep magnolia satin with a cowl neckline. The full bishop sleeves and long train were patterned with richelieu embroidery. Her long tulle veil, which formed a second train, was held in place with sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Two bridesmaids, Monica Lander, Wellington,-and Molly Smith, sister of the bridegroom, wore graceful frocks of petunia chiffon over taffeta, and wide crinoline hats in the same shade. A little flower girl, Mary Gertrude O’Reilly, Wanganui, cousin of the bride, wore apple-green chiffon over taffeta, with a matching poke bonnet. The three attendants carried Victorian posies. Mr Hilton George, Alfredton, was best man, and the groomsmen were Alan Smith, brother of the bridegroom, and Andrew Fleming, brother of the bride. A reception was held in the palm lounge of the Hotel St George, where Mr and Mrs Fleming received their guests, assisted by Mr Smith. Mrs Fleming’s gown was of deep violet lace, with coatee and hat to match and accessories to tone. When Mr and Mrs J. B. Smith left on their honeymoon the bride was wearing a two-piece ensemble of navy' and periwinkle blue, with a widebrimmed hat. Her shoes, gloves and handbag were navy blue and she wore a fox fur.
