DISTRICT LAMBS
* WAIRARAPA COMPETITION ENTRIES CLOSE ON FRIDAY The annual Wairarapa district lamb competition is to be held at the Waingawa Meat Works on Tuesday, November 8, and entries for same close with Mr L. H. Smart, P.O. Box 25, Carterton on Mr R. H. Williams, Masterton on Friday. The pens are of 3 lambs each and competitors are allowed to enter not more than two pens. Lambs are to be in the pens by 9 a.m. on November 8, and will be judged on the hooks afterwards, the best 15 pens being forwarded to London for judging for the best North Island display. Local prizes are £3, £2 and £1 in the pens, and the same prizes on the hooks. London prizes include the Shield for the best district display, £l5 for the best individual pen for the whole of the North Island, £lO for second and £5 for third. The New Zealand Meat Board also issued diplomas to the winners of the individual prizes in London and to the owners of the fifteen pens selected to be shipped to London.
